4th Qatar-Poland New Tech Forum

One True Data

Annually organized by the Qatar-Poland Business Council, the Embassy of Poland in Doha, and strategically partnered by the Qatar Financial Center (QFC), ORLEN, IBM and The Open Group OSDU Forum, our event gathers the leading tech companies and prominent decision-makers from the GCC and the CEE regions, for expert panel discussions, B2B sessions, networking and enjoying the rich Qatari hospitality. The event takes place at the state-of-the-art venue, The Ritz-Carlton, Doha, a 5-star hotel rising above the Arabian Gulf’s sweeping shades of blue. Media releases from the previous editions of the forum were featured in some of the largest Qatari and Polish newspapers and TV channels.

In the last few years, in the private and public sectors, we have seen a rapid increase in data over which we often have no control. Data manifests itself in diversity and lack of structure, and the need to reach for non-standard methods of their analysis. According to various sources, currently the average time for collecting and cleaning data (checking their quality) to go to analysis takes employees from 60 to 80% of the entire project time. Since we know that data is one of the most valuable commodities today and we have such a huge increase in it, we must learn to manage it. However, it is not the data itself that determines its value, but how it is used.

The upcoming 4th Qatar-Poland New Tech Forum will be the platform to discuss topics regarding the dynamics and direction of Big Data development. We will try to answer whether it is possible to reduce “data silos” to accelerate the integration of processes for better decision-making in the energy and cyber-security sectors. New technologies have led to the development of companies and societies and raised the role of data as a key asset. The question arises of how to protect yourself against cyber-attacks and the lack of interoperability of components from different suppliers.

An important step in the fight against global warming is the development of RES and CCUS. From the perspective of RES development, new technologies may be of key importance. Looking at the current limitations of the use of big data, the Internet of Things (IoT), or blockchain, it will be possible to integrate (combine) distributed renewable energy sources into one system. This will allow catching anomalies in the entire system and optimally use the energy produced to solve the problem of overproduction or shortage of energy, contributing to the stabilization of power grids. In the case of CCUS, we can look at the development of CO2 capture and management technology as well as from the perspective of legal regulations and monitoring of the landfill. The use of Big Data analytics, ML, or IoT, to systematically collect data in real-time and create knowledge using AI algorithms to organize and adapt activities to the prevailing legal regulations.
